Peach Tree parents groups
Our parents groups provide a friendly, non-judgmental environment in which parents struggling with their emotional well-being can meet others having a similar experience.
All of our Peach Tree parents meetings are facilitated by mums who have had personal experience with perinatal mental illness. In addition, our facilitators are all provided with mental health first aid training and are supported to create a group that encourages honesty, sharing and learning.
There is no particular expectation of how you will contribute to the group. You can share as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. Often, listening to others provides tremendous support in itself. We have learned through running our groups that participants often feel relieved and even a little surprised about how many others are feeling very similarly to themselves. This social support is the key to our Peach Tree parents meetings.
All of our groups are free of charge and operate weekly during school terms. There are toys to keep the kids engaged, and we also provide morning tea. Some of our groups have volunteer child-minders to help keep the kids entertained.
From time-to-time our “Peachy Parents” are also offered special discounts and opportunities to attend various events/workshops being conducted around South East Queensland (e.g. Circle of Security workshops).
